Hada Labo= Skin Lab

Hada is Japanese for Skin and Labo means Laboratory. Created in 2004, their concept was simple. Highly effective skincare with no unwanted ingredients.

The Good Stuff

Super Hyaluronic Acid. The latest generation in skincare trademarked in Japanese Labs in Kyoto. What’s unique about the Hada Labo Range is that it has a combination of three types of hyaluronic acid. The powerhouse acid being HA+, Micro HA, Macro HA. These three acids have the ability to moisturize the skin on different levels.

Why Hyaluronic Acid?

HA is a substance that naturally occurs in the human body that attracts and binds water. It’s capable of holding 1000 times its own weight in water. As we get older and constant sun exposure, our skin cells produce less HA. With our skin’s reduced ability to obtain HA, those fine lines and wrinkles appear at a quicker rate. When HA is used in skincare products, it boosts moisture levels and helps skin stay plump and hydrated.

Super Hydrating Lotion

This fragrance-free lotion is like a drink of water for your skin. Known as the multi-layer lotion as it combines three types of Hyaluronic Acid to rehydrate the skin. The Japanese originators introduced this lotion as a new hydration step which is said to be applied after cleansing and before moisturizing. Cleanse. Hydrate. Moisturise.

Why Use a Hydrator?

A hydrator, also known as an essence, has a water-like consistency which is lighter than creams and lotions. Hydrators are so beneficial for all skin types as they are designed to prep the skin or deeper moisturisation from your lotions. With regular use, layering an essence or hydrator can delay visible signs of ageing.

Importance of Layering

K-Beauty & Japanese skin gurus are big on layering yours products. Layering is applying the right products in the right order. By layering your products in the correct sequence, it can improve your skin’s appearance in a short time.

Begin with products that are applied all over the face first, starting with the lightest weight product. Then build upon
each layer using an all-over face cream, followed by products that target smaller, specific areas of concern (wrinkles, crow’s feet). Always end with applying a broad spectrum SPF 30 face lotion to protect the skin from premature ageing and help prevent skin cancer.

Our Review

As someone who is obsessed with Japanese and Korean Beauty, you can read more here and here, I was beyond excited to be part of the Hada Labo Campaign.

The Super Hydrating Lotion is PHENOMENAL. Plain and simple. There are no other words to describe it. They had me at Hyaluronic Acid. For me, it’s the powerhouse ingredient that will keep my skin looking young and radiant. Isn’t it, after all, what we long for in the end. Youthful, glowing skin?

Rated #1 skincare line in Japan and for good reason. It is a result-driven product that is great for sensitive skin, fragrance-free, and cruelty-free. If you ask me, it really doesn’t get better than this.

Will I be integrating this into my current skincare regime, OH YES! I will definitely be trying out the other products too!
